Rebecca Tendai Penduka Chirenga is a Lecturer/ Trainer by profession with over 20 years of experience in Tertiary institutions and an avid community developer and advocacy champion. She has held leadership positions such as Head of Commerce faculty, senior lecturer, and have sat on a number of Boards of Directors. She is currently the Executive Director of her organization, Women in Communities (WICO), a position she has held for 12 years now. Rebecca is responsible for Planning and implementing programs; Training and capacity building; Project planning, development and implementation; Advocacy; supporting organizational networks and associations; Coordination skills with various stakeholders including government, media, local level structures and other NGOs; Monitoring and evaluating projects and periodic reports to funding partners; Resources mobilization
Rebecca Chirenga is holder of the 2019 Netherlands Embassy Gender Champion Award and an organization award for The Best Community Developer for 2019 awarded by the National Association of NGOs in Zimbabwe. She is currently part of the World Patients Alliance Africa Steering Committee.
Rebecca wants to be a visionary leader that will champion the cause of women and girls in all facets of their health, rights and education. As a visionary leader she wants to leave a legacy of empowered and informed women that are in a safe space to demand their human rights.
