Lusaka, Zambia
17 September 2025
Diabetic Community Support Initiative (DCSI)
As part of the global commemoration of World Patient Safety Day 2025, the Diabetic Community Support Initiative (DCSI) will organize a series of awareness and outreach activities focused on improving diabetes care and prevention in Lusaka, Zambia.
The initiative will include educational sessions for patients, caregivers, and community members on key aspects of diabetes management and patient safety. Free screening services will be provided to identify undiagnosed cases, and blood glucose testing will be offered to individuals living with diabetes as part of efforts to promote regular monitoring often neglected due to the high cost of testing strips.
In addition, DCSI will conduct hospital visits to extend encouragement and support to inpatients, accompanied by the distribution of essential items such as bathing soap and washing powder. These acts of care reflect the organization’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals and promoting a culture of patient-cantered safety and compassion.
