Youth Dialogue on Mpox Awareness Held in Sierra Leone by Patient Safety Action Network - World Patients Alliance

Youth Dialogue on Mpox Awareness Held in Sierra Leone by Patient Safety Action Network

Freetown, Sierra Leone | 2 June 2025 — The Patient Safety Action Network, in partnership with the National Public Health Agency (NPA), hosted a two-day dialogue workshop under the theme “Mpox Matters: Understanding the Risk and Taking Action” to educate and empower young people in the Western Area Urban region.

The workshop welcomed schoolchildren from multiple local institutions and equipped them with essential knowledge about Mpox (Monkeypox), including its symptoms, modes of transmission, and prevention strategies. The event aimed to foster youth-led community awareness and advocacy through interactive sessions, presentations, and group activities.

As part of the initiative, students were encouraged to serve as health ambassadors, promoting accurate information and helping dispel myths in their schools and communities. This effort reflects the organization’s commitment to inclusive health education and proactive disease prevention.

The event aligns with the broader goals of the World Patients Alliance to support patient safety, public awareness, and the empowerment of future generations in global health efforts.
