World Patients Alliance Participates in the European Conference on Injury Prevention and Patient Safety
The World Patients Alliance (WPA) was represented by Board Member Jolanta Bilinska at the European Conference on Injury Prevention and Patient Safety, held from 29 September to 2 October 2025 in Heraklion, Greece. The event gathered patient advocates, health professionals, researchers, and policymakers from across Europe and beyond to share experiences and strengthen collaboration on injury prevention and patient safety.
Ms. Bilinska played an active role throughout the event. She delivered a presentation to Greek stakeholders on the trauma system in Poland, shared remarks about WPA’s mission during the Opening Ceremony, contributed as a panelist in the session on strengthening trauma systems and surveillance in Europe, and chaired a session on patient safety. Her participation highlighted WPA’s commitment to advancing patient-centered approaches in global health.
An article prepared by Ms. Bilinska following the conference will be published in the European Public Health Compendium, expanding WPA’s visibility within the European public health community. The event also opened new opportunities for collaboration. Ms. Bilinska met with Dr. Nurshaim Tilenbaeva from WHO Europe, who has translated WPA’s Patient Safety Books into Greek, and engaged with representatives from the European Chairs of WONCA and the European Patient Forum (EPF).
The conference organizers expressed strong appreciation for WPA’s contribution and showed interest in future cooperation. With participation from international experts, including those from Australia and the United States, the event underscored the global relevance of patient safety.
WPA’s involvement in this conference reaffirms its dedication to empowering patients and promoting safer healthcare systems worldwide through dialogue, collaboration, and shared learning.
