Zdenko Simonović, President of the Chronic Viral Hepatitis Patients Association “B18” (Bosnia and Herzegovina), is a cured HCV patient, diagnosed in 1996. He was the first patient in Bosnia and Herzegovina successfully treated with DAA therapy in 2015. As co-founder and president of B18 since 2004, he is an active member of the World Patients Alliance (WPA), the World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA), and the European Liver Patients’ Association (ELPA). Zdenko advocates for patient rights, public awareness on HBV and HCV, prevention, early detection, and support for marginalized populations. He also promotes healthy lifestyles among youth and collaborates closely with NGOs, health institutions, and professionals across the region.
