
Eric David Ochieng' is a healthcare executive with more than 12 years of senior leadership experience across East and West Africa. He is currently Chief Operating Officer of Avenue Healthcare in Nairobi, Kenya, part of the Evercare Group, where he oversees three hospitals and a team of more than 1,200 serving over 500,000 patients annually. He previously served as Head of Hospital and COO of Evercare Hospital Lekki, a 165-bed multispecialty tertiary facility in Lagos, Nigeria.
Throughout his career, Eric has championed patient-centred care as both an operational discipline and a strategic priority. At Evercare Lekki, he led the hospital to SafeCare Level 5 Accreditation and EDG Certification while raising its Net Promoter Score from 38% to 50% in six months, gains rooted in acting on patient feedback and redesigning services around patient needs. Earlier, as Head of Business Development, Marketing and Care Management at the Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa, he improved patient experience scores from 65% to 85% by embedding patient voices in service design and care management.
Eric believes lasting improvement in health outcomes requires moving patient engagement from one-off consultation to sustained partnership, institutionalized in governance, quality systems, and everyday clinical practice. In his current role, he integrates patient experience data, shared decision-making, and frontline provider engagement into hospital governance and performance reviews, ensuring the patient perspective shapes both individual care and system design.
He holds a Bachelor of Management in Business Strategy and Economics from the University of Alberta, Canada.
