Kai-Hsun HSIAO

Kai-Hsun HSIAOKai is a technical consultant with the Global Health Emergency Corps (GHEC) at WHO, contributing to global strategy, technical guidance and capacity strengthening for Emergency Medical Teams and other surge response capacities to ensure people and communities have access to safe, timely and effective care during health emergencies. With a clinical background as an emergency physician, he also has over 15 years of patient care experience, including in various resource-limited and crisis-affected settings such as South Sudan, Nepal, and Ecuador. Throughout his work, he has remained a firm advocate for rights-based, patient-centred approaches to care, from the bedside to the global systems that shape how care is delivered during emergencies. He holds a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a Master of Science in Disaster Medicine from the Università del Piemonte Orientale/ Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
