Dr. Mary Amuyunzu-Nyamongo is the Founder Director and Technical Advisor of the African Institute for Health and Development (AIHD), an organization based in Nairobi, Kenya that focuses on research, programming and policy on health and development issues. She is currently the Chair of the NCD Alliance of Kenya Board and she serves as the co-chair of the NCD Intersectoral Coordination Committee (ICC) under the Ministry of Health. She also serves on the East Africa NCD Alliance Board, the Africa CDC NCD Advisory Board and on the NCD Injuries and Poverty Network Steering Committee. She also serves on various national, international committees/boards, including the Refugee Consortium Kenya (RCK), Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPs), among others. Mary has published widely in the areas of health and development, focusing on NCDs, HIV/AIDS, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), gender, youth, mothers and children under-five, rural and urban poverty, and health promotion in general. She is an Adjunct Lecturer at Strathmore University, Nairobi. Mary holds a PhD (Social Anthropology) from Cambridge University, UK.
