WPA CEO Hussain Jafri Joins WHO Civil Society Commission Steering Committee
The World Patients Alliance (WPA) is pleased to announce that its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hussain Jafri, has been selected as a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) Civil Society Commission (CSO) Steering Committee. This marks an important milestone in strengthening the global voice of patients within international health governance.
The WHO Civil Society Commission is established to facilitate structured engagement between civil society organizations and the WHO, ensuring that the perspectives of communities and stakeholders are integrated into global health policy. The Steering Committee, comprised of representatives, plays a pivotal role in guiding the Commission’s work, setting priorities, and ensuring accountability in advancing WHO’s mission in collaboration with civil society.
Mr. Jafri’s election to this influential body reflects the growing recognition of WPA’s commitment to patient centered healthcare globally. It provides a significant opportunity for WPA to represent patient communities worldwide at the highest level of global health dialogue.
“This achievement underscores the importance of patient voices in shaping healthcare policy and systems,” said Mr. Jafri. “It is an honour to serve on the Steering Committee and to ensure that patients are not only heard but actively involved in the decisions that affect their health and well-being.”
For the WPA and its members, this development strengthens our capacity to advocate for patient-centered approaches, contribute to the global health agenda, and ensure that policies reflect the real needs of patients across diverse regions and contexts.
The World Patients Alliance congratulates Mr. Jafri on this achievement and looks forward to working closely with the WHO Civil Society Commission to advance safer, more equitable, and patient-centered healthcare worldwide.
