The Chronic Viral Hepatitis Patients Association (B18) implemented the “Prevention of Hepatitis B in Newborns” project to raise awareness about preventing mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B.
The project placed particular emphasis on strengthening the knowledge of future nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals, preparing them to support mothers and newborns throughout their careers. In partnership with Professor Antonija Verhaz, National Coordinator for Viral Hepatitis, educational materials were developed and distributed to pregnant women, expectant families and healthcare providers.
Young people were also engaged through the educational theatre performance “Virus,” which promoted disease prevention and wider health awareness. Through education, professional engagement and community outreach, the project supported broader national and global efforts to prevent mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B.
