Zakariya’u Dauda is a medical laboratory scientist and global health advocate from Nigeria, working at the intersection of antimicrobial resistance, diagnostics, youth engagement, and health policy. He is the founder of UDUYARS (Usmanu Danfodiyo University Young Antimicrobial Resistance Stewards), a youth-led initiative advancing AMR education, community engagement, and locally grounded health solutions across Africa.
Zakariya’u currently serves as National Coordinator of the National Youth Antimicrobial Resistance Campaign (NaYAMR), which coordinated 31 youth-led interventions across Nigeria, Tanzania, and Cameroon. He also serves as Secretary of the Nigerian Youth AMR Community of Practice and co-lead of the Drivers Action Group of the Quadripartite AMR Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Platform, bringing youth and civil society perspectives into global AMR discussions.
His international policy engagement includes serving on the Steering Committee of the Fleming Initiative’s Global Consensus on Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance through Education, contributing youth and African perspectives to a global framework for AMR education. As an accredited stakeholder in the 2024 UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on AMR, he submitted a written stakeholder statement contributing to the multi-stakeholder process informing the meeting and its Political Declaration. He subsequently contributed stakeholder perspectives to the Jeddah Commitments at the 4th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR. He has also served as a panellist at the Quadripartite AMR Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Platform’s 3rd Plenary Session and at the Africa CDC Regional Review Meeting on AMR Surveillance and Stewardship for West Africa, contributing perspectives on civil society and youth engagement, AMR governance, surveillance and stronger regional systems.
