Live Screening: Doctor Safety Flipbooks – A Storytelling Event for Children and Families

As part of our continued commitment to patient safety and health education, the World Patients Alliance is pleased to present a special live screening of the Doctor Safety Flipbooks in the webinar: LEARN ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF PATIENTS AND HOW STORIES CAN TEACH US TO STAY HEALTHY AND STRONG. Through this session, we aim to highlight how creative narratives can help introduce young minds to essential health and safety concepts in simple, engaging ways.

The Doctor Safety Flipbooks were developed by the South African Cystic Fibrosis Association (SACFA) as part of a broader effort to make safety education accessible and relatable for children. These flipbooks are being handed over to the World Patients Alliance and the Elsevier Foundation during this event.

This initiative complements the Patient Safety Books for Children project — a joint effort by the World Patients Alliance and the Elsevier Foundation. That project focuses on developing illustrated storybooks to improve health literacy among children aged 6–12, helping them understand core safety principles in everyday care settings. These books are already available in English and Portuguese, with additional translations underway.

The webinar, scheduled for 4th of June at 12.30 EST (18:30 South Africa Time), will be streamed live on the World Patients Alliance YouTube Channel. It will include a formal handover of the flipbooks, behind-the-scenes insights from their creators, and a special screening of three animated stories. The event also commemorates Cystic Fibrosis Month and emphasizes the power of community-driven storytelling in shaping a safer, healthier future for all.

We invite children, parents, educators, and healthcare advocates to join us in this unique celebration of patient education through storytelling.
