Speakers

Professor Shin Ushiro works as a Deputy Director and Divisional Director of the Division of Patient Safety in Kyushu University Hospital, Japan. At institutional level he has been engaged in wide range of quality and safety improvements such as incident reporting system, hospital accreditation, conflict mitigation through candid communication with patient and family. Shin also works in the Japan Council for Quality Health Care (JQ) which has project lines such as Hospital accreditation, National adverse event reporting and learning system, No-fault compensation system for cerebral palsy.

At international level, he works as a Board Member of ISQua (International Society for Quality in Healthcare) which held annual conference with Health Foundation in London 2017. Of note, Dr. Ushiro was invited as a witness by the Health and Social Care Committee of the House of Commons, UK Parliament in 2022 to present the no-fault compensation system.

Furthermore, his career closely related to UK healthcare system is further exemplified by his role being a steering committee member of the Global Ministerial Summit Series on Patient Safety with delegation of UK and national delegate expert of G20 Patient Safety Leaders Group which was initially chaired by Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt, a current Chancellor of Exchequer.
