The 46th IHF World Hospital Congress, organized by the International Hospital Federation (IHF) in collaboration with prominent Portuguese healthcare organizations, concluded on October 27, 2023, at the Lisbon Congress Centre. The event saw the active participation of approximately 1,400 delegates from 91 countries and territories, making it a resounding success in fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange in the healthcare sector.
The congress, hosted by the IHF in partnership with esteemed Portuguese healthcare entities such as the Portuguese Association for Hospital Development (APDH), Portuguese Association of Hospital Managers (APAH), and Portuguese Association of Private Hospitals (APHP), featured a diverse array of plenary and thematic sessions, workshops, and poster presentations. Delegates engaged in meaningful discussions, sharing insights, expertise, and experiences in the Innovation Hub and exhibition space.
With over 240 speakers contributing to 40+ scientific sessions, the congress became a hub of knowledge dissemination, focusing on cutting-edge advancements and best practices in healthcare. More than 230 posters were showcased, highlighting innovative approaches and success stories from around the globe.
One of the highlights of the event was the IHF Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner, where over 500 healthcare leaders gathered to honor outstanding projects and programs. The celebration underscored the commitment of the healthcare community to excellence and innovation.
In a significant moment, Andrew Spiegel, Chair of the World Patients Alliance (WPA), brought a unique perspective to the congress. As a partner organization of the IHF, the WPA plays a crucial role in advocating for patients’ rights and well-being.
